Michael Jordan Quote on Going Through Walls

Michael jordan quoteIf you’re trying to achieve, there will be roadblocks. I’ve had them; everybody has had them. But obstacles don’t have to stop you. If you run into a wall, don’t turn around and give up. Figure out how to climb it, go through it, or work around it.

~ Michael Jordan

Michael Jordan Quote Interpretation

This Michael Jordan Quote is on of my most favorite quotes by possibly not only the greatest basketball player of all time, buy possibly the greatest athlete ever. If you know Michael Jordan’s story, you know that he face roadblock and roadblock on his journey to success. As a sophomore in high school, he was cut from his high school basketball team when he was a sophomore. Throughout his illustrious NBA career, he encountered roadblocks and obstacles.

The key to his success was that he never let the walls stop him. He never gave up. In Jordan’s second season (1985-86 Season), he suffered a broken bone in his foot that cost him 64 games during the regular season. Consequently, the Chicago Bulls finished with a 30-52 win-loss record. Despite their miserable season, the Bulls still made the playoffs. They were matched up against the Eastern Conference favorite Boston Celtics.

In game 2 of the series, Jordan scored a still-unbroken record 63 points. Even though the Celtics eventually went on to sweep the Bulls in four games, Jordan was able to blow through this wall in a performance for the the ages.

Then in 1993, tragedy struck the Jordan family. Michael Jordan’s father was murdered. Just before the start of the season, Jordan announced his retirement. He went on to pursue his dream of playing Major League Baseball. He played in the minors for the Chicago White Sox. While Jordan has some good performances in the minors, he was never able to set foot on a Major League Playing field.

In 1995, Jordan returned to the Bulls and went on to win another 3 NBA Championships, totaling six for his career. Jordan’s career exemplified this Michael Jordan Quote. He climbed over walls, worked around them, and – at time -blew through them. We can learn a lot from his example.
