The 15 Secrets to Success

The 15 Secrets to Success

What are the secrets to success? As long as human beings have been around, we have searched for those mysteries. The secrets of enlightenment, fulfillment, and success. We search for them in our relationships and religions. We look for them in our businesses. We search and search until we become overloaded with too much information (a lot of which is false). At that point, we stop looking and settle.

The truth of the matter is that the secrets to success, the mysteries that have mystified and confused generation after generation are actually within us. We are conscious beings. There is a reason why we are here on this planet. It’s not just to let life happen. I truly believe that we are divine creations with the ability to grow and learn. We are creators ourselves. Thus, we have it within ourselves to create our success.

Success doesn’t just happen by chance. Although many have achieved it through luck or happenstance. Luck is a temporary success trick; a band-aide, if you will, to cover our deepest pains. No. … Success is something more than that, And it all begins within ourselves.

Below is a list of 15 Secrets to Success that I have discovered since I began my journey. Now, I want to share them with you. Let’s begin …

Secrets to Success Rule #1 – Transform Your Mindset

We’ve all heard the rags to riches stories of people like Henry Ford who began as a poor farm boy with a very limited education only to build one of the most influential auto empires in the world. How did he do it? It started with a belief. He had faith that he could achieve his dreams. And we all can do this. By putting the good things into our minds on a daily through reading good books, listening to motivational audio, etc., we will transform our mindsets into minds that truly believe in success.

Secrets to Success Rule #2 – Discover Your True Purpose

In order to be successful, you need to discover your true purpose. Why do you want success? Do you want success so you can be noticed or make more money? If so, then success will be difficult to come by. Those that are truly successful, discover their why. For the most part, when people become a success their purpose is to uplift others.

The longest journey is the journey inward.

~ Aaron Rashkin

Secrets to Success Rule #3 – Never Stop Learning

Many of us have thought that when we graduated from high school, college, or graduate school that our learning was complete. We knew everything, right? Wrong. I have discovered the more I learn, the more I don’t know. Learning is a lifelong process or journey. Never stop learning.

Secrets to Success Rule #4 – When You Fail or lose, Make Sure You Don’t Lose the Lesson

We live in a world where we don’t let anyone fail. We give our children trophies just for participating in sports or other activities. We give passing grades now just so we don’t hurt a child’s self-esteem. The problem with this is it gives our future generations a false sense of identity. Rather than building them up, it actually softens them. Why? Because they were never allowed to fail and learn from those lessons. True self-esteem and empowerment comes from learning from our failures and turning those failures into victories.

Secrets to Success Rule #5 – Decisions are Instant – Results Take Time

Any one of us can become successful in an instant. That is, we make a decision to achieve success and never give up. But success doesn’t come all at once. We must be patient as we do the little things each day to achieve our goals. Then, before you know it, we have achieved our dreams.

Secrets to Success Rule #6 – Stop Comparing Yourself to Others

Did you know that when we compare ourselves to others, we are actually comparing our worst qualities to their best qualities? Consequently, we come to false conclusions about who we are. Comparing yourself breeds negative emotions, such as envy and jealously. We must realize that the person we are comparing our-self to achieved success on a different journey. Rather than compare yourself, celebrate the other individual’s success.

Secrets to Success Rule #7 – Stop Looking for Things to Be Offended By

Have you noticed that we live in a world where everyone is offended by something someone says or something someone does? The truth of the matter is that no person can offend you. It is only by your choice to be offended by what someone has done or said to you that is offensive. When you stop looking to be offended, you are filled with more forgiveness, love, and peace.

Secrets to Success Rule #8 – Successful People Do What Others Find Boring or Uncomfortable

Successful people do the little, mundane things that ordinary people find uncomfortable. For example, successful basketball players work on the basic fundamentals each day that the average players are not willing to work on. Whatever your goal is for success, you must do the things that are not enjoyable. You can’t pick and choose. Success takes work.

Secrets to Success Rule #9 – Let Go of Your E.G.O.

Jesus Christ in his Sermon on the Mount summed this rule up the best when he said…

Blessed are the meek: for they shall inherit the earth.

~ Matthew 5:5

Being meek does not mean that we should be weak. On the contrary, strength can be defined as … rather than holding on, we need to let go. For most of us our ego gets in the way of success. I’ve heard it said that ego stands for Easing God Out. When we ease god out of our lives, pride sets in. We must let go of our E.G.O. and attract our B.G.I. (Bring God In).

Secrets to Success Rule #10 – Success is About Personal Fulfillment – Not about Money

We live in a world where money is everything. Yes, it is true that we need money to survive. And there is nothing wrong with the desire to become rich the correct way because being rich allows you to help others. Nonetheless, when you do what you love on a daily basis and find fulfillment, then you have achieved success.

Secrets to Success Rule #11 – Don’t Keep Your Desire for Success a Secret

For most of us, telling others about our dreams and goals is scary. We are afraid of the ridicule we may receive. However, keeping your desire for success a secret can greatly hinder your chances to achieve it. Yell from the mountain tops your dreams, goals, and desires. The more you talk about and think about your dreams, the better the chances are that you will succeed.

Secrets to Success Rule #12 – It’s Not About Who You Know, It’s About Who Knows You

We have all heard the saying, “It’s who you know.” While this is true to a point, it is actually who knows you. To achieve success in whatever endeavor you choose, you can’t hide behind the coach on the sidelines. You need to get in the game and get noticed. Being known for what you love to do opens up more connections with people that will help you achieve greater success.

Secrets to Success Rule #13 – Stay Connected With Successful People and Remove the Negative

This rule can be one of the most difficult rules to success to apply. While it is easy to stay connected with people that are successful, we all have close family members and friends that whine, complain, and criticize. These kind of people must be removed from our lives so that we are not influenced by their negative thoughts and actions. If you can’t remove negative people from your life, tell them lovingly that you will not talk to them when they act like this.

Secrets to Success Rule #14 – Do the Little Things Each Day

In his book, The Slight Edge, Jeff Olson states…

Simple little disciplines that, done consistently over time, will add up to the very biggest accomplishments.

When you work on your goals each day, the results begin to compound like compound interest. Just keep plugging along each day, doing those things that will help you achieve success.

Secrets to Success Rule #15 – Serve Others

I truly believe that we are here on this earth to serve others. We are not here to serve our self-interests. Although we must work on ourselves to become the best we can be before we can truly give ourselves to others. When you become successful – and you will – share it with others. Teach others how to achieve it.

In conclusion, there are many secrets to success besides the 15 described above. These are just a few that I have practiced to become happy and successful in any endeavor I choose. These practices have also helped me to begin my own successful home business. In addition, I am currently in the process of writing a book based upon these 15 rules. This book delves deeper into these rules with motivational stories and more. And the best part is, I will give this book away for FREE to my email subscribers. Non-subscribers will have to purchase this book.
